Jyu-ni hitoe, the multi-layered ceremonial kimono once worn by royal women.
Meiwa Town, once home to the Saiō—royal women devoted to the Ise Shrine—provides the perfect setting for you to step into the role of royalty, within the historic setting of the Sai Kūryō, their official residence.
Step into the world of the Saiō, draped in the majestic jyu-ni hitoe, and let the recreated Heian-era Sai Kūryō transport you back in time.

Meet at the Shiseki Koen Exit (North Exit) of Kintetsu Saiku Station for a guided tour of Saiku, followed by a visit to Heian-no-Mori.
03 Fitting

A professional kimono stylist will guide you through the process of dressing, layer by layer, transforming you into a princess straight out of the Heian period. With language support available, you can ask questions about the culture and the outfit’s significance. Even if it’s your first time wearing a kimono, we’ll make sure you’re comfortable and can move easily, ensuring a fun and memorable experience.
05 Photo Shoot

After getting dressed, with the beautiful traditional Japanese backdrop, you’ll feel like you’ve stepped right into the Heian period, leaving you with timeless photos to remember the experience.
06 Changing
After the experience, you’ll change back into your regular clothes and relax before parting ways. Take your time to reflect on the unforgettable moments of the day as you head home.
07 Visit Take-jinja Shrine
Wander through the peaceful grounds of this historic shrine, where tradition and nature come together in perfect harmony.
Established in 1911, the shrine enshrines 25 deities, creating a sacred space that feels timeless and deeply connected to Japan’s spiritual roots. Its rich history and tranquil surroundings invite you to relax and relive the past.
08 Closing
We will walk with you from Take-jinja Shrine to Saiku Station to see you off.

Join the local ujiko—community members who worship at and support their local Shinto shrine— in caring for Take Jinja Shrine, and develop a richer understanding of its importance while immersing yourself in the true spirit of Japan.
Get exclusive access to areas typically off-limits to the public and have the rare opportunity to participate in rituals and ceremonies while immersing yourself in the rich history and traditions of the shrine.

Its rich history and tranquil surroundings invite you to relax and relive the past.
04 Change & Purify Your Body

First, change into samue, the traditional work clothes worn by monks, paired with geta sandals. Then, take part in a purification ritual to prepare yourself for the experience.
05 Ujiko Experience

You'll have the unique opportunity to care for the shrine by cleaning areas normally off-limits to visitors and helping collect offerings. After tidying up, walk along the freshly cleaned pathway for a special worship experience. You'll also receive a direct lesson in proper shrine etiquette from the head priest, providing you with a deep understanding of Japanese tradition.
06 Create Your Own Goshuin

Try your hand at goshuin, a unique Japanese tradition where you’ll use a brush to create your own sacred stamp. It’s a powerful way to connect with the shrine and take home a meaningful souvenir.
07 Ritual Feast & Lunch

Finally, you’ll experience naoriai, where you’ll enjoy a banquet and connect through conversation in a relaxed, friendly atmosphere before returning to your normal life.
08 Change and Closing

Do you charge a cancellation fee?
Yes. Cancellations up to 2 days before: 30% of the fee / 1 day before: 50% of the fee / On the day of cancellation: 100% of the fee
Can men participate too?
The Jyu-ni Hitoe experience is limited to one male participant, as only one men’s costume is available.
The Ujiko experience is available to everyone.
How many people can participate?
The Jyu-ni Hitoe experience accommodates up to 3 participants: 2 women and 1 man.
The Ujiko experience allows up to 10 participants.
Non-participants are welcome to take photos near the participants.
Is there an age limit?
Both experiences are open to individuals aged 13 and older. Participants under 18 must be accompanied by a guardian.
Is hair and makeup included?
Hair and makeup are not included in either experience.
Is the jyu-ni hitoe clothing heavy?
Yes, it is heavy, weighing over 10kg.
Can I take my own photos?
Yes, you can take your own photos for both experiences. Additionally, our staff can assist by taking photos with your camera or smartphone.
Am I allowed to take photos during the fitting?
Yes, you may.
How many photos am I allowed to take?
There is no limit to the number of photos you or our staff can take.
Do I have to return the clothes on the same day?
Yes, for both experiences, you will wear the costume only during the experience. Once the experience is over, you will be asked to remove the costume.
Can others accompany me even if they’re not participating?
Yes, others can accompany you for both experiences, and there is no additional charge.
